Creating and deleting workflows

Creating a workflow in ApertureDB Cloud

To create a workflow in ApertureDB Cloud, first log in to ApertureDB Cloud and create an ApertureDB instance, if you have not already done so.

When you create a new instance, you will be given an opportunity to create a workflow to go with it. You can also add a workflow to an existing instance.

Add workflow when creating instance

1. Select a workflow from the catalog
2. Click the down arrow button at the right.

3. Fill in the fields (see workflow documentation for details)
4. Click the large blue button

5. You will be asked to confirm the creation of the new workflow

6. You will now be able to finish instance creation

Add workflow to existing instance

1. Click on the Instances button at the left
2. Find your instance on the right
3. Click on Show Details

4. In the Instance Details view, click on "Add Workflow"

5. Select a workflow from the list
6. Click on the down arrow

7. Fill in the field; see the documentation for the specific workflow for more information on the required fields.
8. Click the large blue button

9. You will be asked to confirm the creation of the new workflow

10. You will now see a confirmation that your workflow has been successfully added; click on Continue to continue

Managing workflow state

The state of the workflow will change to notify you it is ready for use, finished processing, or has run into an error.

When a workflow has started, processing is started, and some results may be available.

When a workflow is finished, processing is complete, and it finished without errors that were unrecoverable.

Deleting a workflow

There are mutiple ways to find a workflow in the ApertureDB Cloud UI.

From Workflows Hub

1. To find an existing workflow. open the Workflows Hub, which will show all of your active workflows
2. Find your workflow
3. Click on Details to select a specific workflow

From Instances page

1. Click on the Instances button
2. Find the instance associated with the workflow
3. Click Show Details

4. Find the workflow you want to delete
5. Click on the right arrow

6. Click on the three dots
7. Select Delete Workflow from the popup menu

8. You will have to confirm the workflow deletion by clicking on DELETE

The workflow will show briefly as DELETING before it is removed from the list of workflows.

Stopping a workflow

Periodic and continuous workflows can be stopped by clicking on the STOP button on the workflow details page.

The workflow will briefly show as STOPPING before going to STOPPED

A stopped workflow can be restarted by pressing the START button

Connecting to a workflow

Continuous workflows that have an associated interface port can be connected to by clicking on the Connect button on the workflows page. This will take you to the main server web page for the workflow.

Connection Helper

Some server workflows have other interfaces, such as APIs that may have security tokens. Click on the Connection Helper button to get these details.

This workflow provides both a TCP endpoint and an HTTP API. The Connection Helper gives you the information you need to configure clients applications to connect. Click on the copy-to-clipboard icons at the right.
